WANT
1.I want to carry on with making regular screen printing projects because the way i am making the majority of my work at the moment suits the process well ( bold shapes & line work, limited colour palettes, nothing too intricate) There's still plenty i need to learn before I'm making ( what i consider to be) sellable artwork . If i do this then I'll have more confidence in putting a price on my work - i could also look into gaining some work experience or employment within the field.
2. I want to be become more confident when talking to people about my own work, because i currently have a tendency to be a bit self-deprecating about the work i make and tend to pick holes in it, a point them out to everyone at the first available opportunity. This will allow me to improve at a discussing my work around strangers and will definitely help when it comes to enquiring about jobs or at exhibitions where i may get the chance to speak to other artists.
3. I want to get involved with a creative collective because getting a chance to collaborate with like-minded artists on live briefs will encourage me to respond quicker, draw quicker, speed up my production time - as well as being able to bounce ideas, share tips etc.. something i can't get my working on my own. Doing this mean ill be able to gain valuable contacts and get the opportunity to possibly produce work for a wider audience at a larger scale.
4.I want to start animating some of my character based designs that live in my sketchbooks. No to Pixar standards mind, but simple 'cute' movements here and there. This is because i enjoyed doing it last year for the authors brief and had a fair bit of success with it. I feel the bold vector work i often make would also be suited to being brought to life in After Effects. Doing this would not only add another string to my creative bow, but could increase my employment prospects, making me that bit more creatively versatile.
5. I want to have my work featured in more themed exhibitions/shows/galleries/fairs because that's why I've chosen to pursue a creative career path - so that i can produce work that lots of people will see, either online or in real-life, to purchase or to just simply bloody admire! Given the chance to do this i'lll be able to get some work exposure and speak to fellow exhibitors about their own practice and increase my chances of myself involved in more projects, shows or live events.
