Visual Skills Studio Brief THREE - 'Play, Play, Play'

I knocked up a bunch of initial designs based around various meanings of the word CURRENT. Didn't want to work with the most obvious options, as we were advised that the obvious solution is usually the most boring. But as current doesn't have as many possible options as say 'Run' for example, i thought about using maybe an obvious answer, but try and make the final solution not so obvious, or at least a little bit less obvious and more of a challenge. If that makes sense..? Again, the quantity of the roughs i had explored by the mid-way point in the project was limited, and not too much in-depth, however they were all ideas that had legs and could be developed further, as my crit group later pointed out.

Initial brainstorm..i mean mind-map.

Some random quotes, vaguely related to my subject matter,
to help me with my thinking

After the peer feedback session it was the general consensus that, although they were interesting,  i needed more development on my initial ideas. There weren't any cliche or obvious ideas, which was good to hear. They (my peers) were split as to which designs i should pursue due to underdevelopment of the existing options, but the electric eel as text was an idea they suggested i work on.Also the the PikaBulb they found "funny, childish and something they could relate to".That would be a solution to the single image task, but i think i'll try and explore another, more creative option, they wouldn't involve me just drawing an existing cartoon, albeit 'mashed-up' a little. Another question that arose was to what media i would use. Although i had considered that, the designs in my head would be limited by the fact that i can't use digital to render it, but at the same time, i don't want to purely use just a fine liner and markers, but more of a mixed media piece.
