Ok, for my individual LARGE responsive brief i'd been holding back & waiting for the Secret 7" to reveal their tracks for the 2016 project, and today they did. Now i do actively shy away from exposing myself to any modern pop music whatsoever, so this might be the reason id hadn't heard of 80% of the artists featured, and i'd only ever heard one the of the tracks, John Lennon, obviously. They have a play feature on the site so you can listen the chosen track of each artist, which i did to see if there was any chance i'd heard these songs before, but wasn't aware who'd made it. I hadn't, i really hadn't. In fact theres not a track here that i really want to hear ever again in my life. But looking at the pint half-full,not liking the subject matter may actually help me to be less precious about my final output. There's not loads of time to get these all done and i can't really keep 'umming and ahhring' about what brief to take on.(I've also been considering the Fever-Tree brief) As there aren'y really any restrictions on the image content of the 7" sleeves, this is the freer, more experimental option that i've possibly been looking for. Looking back at the 2015 entry archive, I'm not sure how the panel decide on a 'worthy' or 'unworthy' entry to put through to the exhibition - as they vary so much, and looking at the majority of them, if the name of the track and artist hadn't been put under the images i wouldn't have a clue what they were about or if they relate at all to the chosen song. On that evidence i'm going to assume this project is more about style than substance - in that case, i might be in luck!

I had a look around for the existing album/single artwork imagery used for the songs in mention, to see what sort of thing they'd been using and mate to get some inspiration. On the whole, not too much to get excited about - The Tame Impala 'Currents' album cover is amazing to look at though, and right down my street. Sort of physcdelic sort of 80's sci-fi,but not. Unsure if it massively reflects the music,(i'd have to research more) but looks great!
